Virtual ARFID Treatment Program

This 10-week intensive outpatient programming (IOP) for ARFID provides remote care and support for children and adolescents ages 10-18 and their families. ARFID is more than just picky eating; it’s an eating disorder characterized by an aversion to food due to sensory characteristics, intense fear, and lack of interest in food. ARFID can lead to malnutrition, adverse health outcomes, and difficulty engaging in age-appropriate activities, but can be fully treated with our specialized, evidence-based care.

Our tailored virtual ARFID treatment

Our tailored treatment

  • Virtual ARFID Treatment Program
    Our virtual ARFID program is:
    • 3 days a week - Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays
    • Program hours: 4:00-7:30 PM (EST)
  • CBT-AR-Informed Treatment in ARFID Care: CBT-AR-Informed is a treatment that utilizes either a Family-Supported or Individual Treatment model for the treatment of ARFID. The focus of this therapy is to directly target food avoidance and restriction to reduce or eliminate associated negative thoughts and feelings and ultimately break the cycle of ARFID symptoms. Our unique virtual IOP provides highly specialized care from an expert treatment team trained in CBT-AR-Informed and ARFID care.
  • ‍Family Involvement: Like all eating disorders, ARFID impacts the entire family. Family involvement is a key component to successful treatment outcomes, and we’re dedicated to supporting you, your child, and the whole family throughout treatment. Our CBT-AR-Informed care ensures our clients and their loved ones understand the biological roots of ARFID and gives them tools to meet their individualized recovery needs. Our ARFID IOP offers three mixed-family therapeutic groups each week so you can learn from and lean on others who understand AFRID’s impact.

Virtual ARFID treatment features

The program includes:

  • Secure, HIPAA-compliant online care
  • CBT-AR-Informed, a unique approach to CBT therapy created by ARFID experts
  • Staff trained to support ARFID patients and their families
  • Case Management
  • Flexible, convenient scheduling
  • Individualized nutritional support
  • Compassionate, comprehensive team support — including a registered dietitian, licensed therapist, recovery coach, and clinical/medical providers
  • Two multi-family and one caregiver-only therapeutic groups each week
  • Thoughtful after-care planning
