Expert nutritional programming

We are a food-first organization rooted in mindfulness and informed by evidenced-based practices. Our nutrition philosophy strives to challenge harmful norms through weight-inclusive care, identifying and healing the body’s needs, addressing challenges and fear foods, increasing sensory awareness, and moving towards values over judgement.

We encourage collaborative care through multidisciplinary involvement, curiosity rather than criticism, education and inclusivity, and compassionate self-reflection.

24/7 nursing

We emphasize safety in all facets of treatment as clients often have serious medical complications from their illness. We provide the highest medical and psychiatric care to our clients including 24/7 nursing in our inpatient and residential programs.

In-network

We strive to make treatment accessible by working with many insurance companies and coordinating single-case agreements for those not in-network.

Frequently asked clinician questions

Here are some frequently asked questions to help you feel confident in what’s next.
After I refer my client, will Monte Nido keep me involved?

For all levels of care we provide updates with outpatient providers. We contact the outpatient team within 48 hours of a client’s admission to discuss treatment and how we will collaborate on ongoing care throughout the course of the clients stay with us. If a client is struggling we may reach out to set up a call to discuss treatment together. In IOP treatment, we ask clients to start seeing their outpatient providers regularly in conjunction with Monte Nido’s programming. The goal is to aid clients in beginning their transition to life outside of Monte Nido care.

What labs and other information does my client need to have done as part of the admissions process?

Please reference our Medical Evaluation Form for the labs and information we request for admission.

Is inpatient treatment the same as residential treatment?

No. Our Inpatient Eating Disorder Programs are our most intensive level of care. At this hospital level of care, our primary goal is to stabilize patients which requires continuously monitoring vital signs and nursing supervision.

At the adult Residential living level of care, clients are still medically monitored, but the focus of treatment is to gradually transfer the responsibility of recovery to the clients themselves as they directly experience and relearn healthy attitudes and behaviors with food.

At the adolescent Residential living level, the program incorporates family involvement which has been shown to be effective for adolescents with eating disorders. Our programming is designed to promote the development of individual skills and family structure, provide a safe home environment, and allow for additional after-care services that continue the remaining therapeutic work.

What age ranges do you treat?

Individuals 11 years old and above are treated in most adolescent residential programs, and 10 and above at our ARFID virtual intensive outpatient program. In some cases, we may apply for a waiver if an individual is under 11 and we deem them appropriate for one of our programs. Individuals are treated in adolescent programming until 18 years old. We also offer adult treatment.

Age requirements may differ per location. It's best to speak with our admissions team for your unique case.

‍

How quickly can you admit someone to your programs?

For programs with immediate availability, we can usually admit your clients within 24-48 hours once we've received all the requested information, verified insurance benefits, and confirmed their willingness to participate. If there is a waitlist for the desired program, we'll work with you and the client/family to explore alternate locations.

Do you need to talk to the client/family directly?

Yes, while we are likely to get the clinical and medical information we need from you, we do always like to talk to the client/family to answer questions and ensure a smooth transition into our care.
