Who We Serve
Weight And Size Inclusive

EATING DISORDER TREATMENT FOR ALL SIZES

Weight and size inclusive healing

Eating disorders can affect individuals in bodies of all shapes and sizes. The misconception that only “thin” people can have eating disorders often leads to underdiagnosis and lack of support for people with larger presenting bodies.

At Monte Nido, we see you. And you deserve care.

Comprehensive care

People in larger bodies often face weight stigma, discrimination, and misconceptions in healthcare settings, making it challenging to access proper diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, treatment may focus on weight loss rather than addressing the underlying issues driving the eating disorder.

At Monte Nido, we provide HAES weight and size inclusive care because we know that healthy, recovered people come in all shapes and sizes. We shift the focus away from weight as the primary indicator of health and promote body acceptance, intuitive eating based on internal cues, and enjoyable physical activity for all body shapes and sizes.

FAQs about eating disorders and treatment for all bodies

Having questions is natural, we’re here to help you find answers and feel confident in your ability to recover.
What does weight and size-inclusive care look like at Monte Nido?

We believe that eating disorder treatment should be delivered in an environment that is inclusive for all bodies. Our programs are designed to accommodate people of all sizes, with furniture, elevators, and ramps for accessibility.

How does weight and size-inclusive care benefit individuals with eating disorders?

Weight and size inclusivity shifts the focus away from weight loss and body size and toward an improved relationship with food and body image, which are essential aspects of eating disorder recovery.

Why is size-inclusive care important?

HAES principles counter the weight stigma, body dissatisfaction, and disordered eating behaviors that are often driven by societal pressures to pursue an idealized body weight or shape. By incorporating this approach in treatment, individuals can make peace with their natural body size, focus on overall wellbeing, and break eating disorder behavior cycles.
