  • Eliminate restrictive behaviors and work toward the reduction and elimination of other eating disorder and exercise disorder behaviors
  • Heal their relationship with food while addressing weight, nutrition, exercise and disordered thoughts and behaviors
  • Achieve nutritional, metabolic and medical balance

  • Understand the connections between food- and body-related behaviors and emotions
  • Practice appropriate expression of feelings
  • Work toward achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight while learning how to stop using numbers to measure self-worth
  • Improve body image and work on acceptance of natural body size and shape
  • Learn and utilize lifelong recovery skills, such as journaling and self-monitoring

A Letter from Monte Nido Laurel Hill's Clinical Director

Taking the first step of exploring treatment can be scary. If you are reading this you’re already stepping into the courage it takes to change. I want you to know our team at Monte Nido Laurel Hill is here to support you as you discover a new way of living. My goal is to aid you in re-discovering your healthy self and what you are recovering to. What kind of life do you want to build for yourself? At Laurel Hill, you will find the space, safety and support to explore who you are without your disorder.

Our staff will help you find a new way forward through fear and confusion. Rebuilding trust in yourself and your body is one of the most difficult and rewarding experiences a person can go though. We are here to teach you how to build skills to help you through the challenging moments, and learn how to connect to your emotions.

Your eating disorder may tell you otherwise, but you have the ability to create a new relationship with food, yourself and others. Within you is a healthy self strong enough to carry you forward into recovery. I believe in fighting against the isolation of the disorder and letting others in to help you, validate you and encourage you when you need it. Full recovery is possible, and more than that- it’s worth it.

Maggie-Sullivan---EDCB
Sincerely,
Maggie Sullivan

As a psychotherapist in private practice who specializes in eating disorders I often need to refer a client for in-patient treatment. My first recommendation when making this type of referral is always Monte Nido. My experience of working closely with their staff for the past 9 years has given me a great deal of confidence in their ability to treat eating disorders. Their thorough understanding of the complexities involved in the process of recovering from anorexia and bulimia, in conjunction with their unique perspective on healing, offers their clients an opportunity to receive help in an atmosphere where they will given expert medical and psychological care while being treated as individuals who deserve to have their voices heard and their bodies honored. I have worked with many other inpatient and residential treatment programs, none of which, in my opinion, appreciate how nurturing a person’s soul is just as important as addressing the eating disorder behaviors. While not everyone who enters the doors of Monte Nido may be quite ready to let go of their eating disorder, they all are given a chance to be surrounded by professionals whose intention it is to give them inspiration and a sense of hope that one day they can be recovered and fully embrace their appetites for life’s many delicious treats.
