Monte Nido East Bay offers state-of-the-art, evidenced-based residential programming for eating and co-occurring disorders. Located in Lafayette, California, in the east bay of San Francisco, Monte Nido East Bay provides programming for all genders.
Our treatment approach focuses on the restoration of physiological and nutritional balance, the implementation of healthy eating and exercise routines, the elimination of destructive behaviors and the development of motivation and treatment engagement. We also emphasize the development of insight and coping skills for the emotional and psychological issues that create risk for relapse and can represent barriers to becoming fully recovered. Our objective is to help each client achieve a clear understanding of their eating and/or exercise disorder and its effect on their life, as well as an individualized appreciation of what is necessary for their personal recovery.
Monte Nido’s trusted treatment approach focuses on the restoration of physiological and nutritional balance, implementation of healthy eating and exercise routines, elimination of harmful behaviors, and development of motivation and treatment engagement. Our objective is to help each client achieve a clear understanding of their eating and/or exercise disorder and its effect on their life, as well as an individualized appreciation of what is necessary for their personal recovery. We help our clients:
- Work toward ceasing restrictive behaviors and elimination of other disordered behaviors relating to eating and co-occurring disorders.
- Address trauma reaction and substance use co-occurring presentations through interventions such as Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivations Enhancement Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and interpersonal therapy.
- Heal their relationship with food while developing a clearer understanding of disordered thinking, attitudes, and behaviors.
- Identify and address underlying causes of their eating disorder and removing harmful patterns that affect self-care and relationships.
- Understand that food- and body-related behaviors are connected to feelings, and develop a healthy expression and practice of emotions.
- Accept their natural size and shape while improving self-image.
- Identify and modify patterns that may complicate recovery, with participation from family and other loved ones.
- Develop an effective aftercare plan that includes strategies for relapse prevention and arrangements that ensure a smooth transition to aftercare providers.

Research Outcomes
Monte Nido East Bay provides a comprehensive research study, approved by an Institutional Review Board, in order to assess treatment outcomes in our programs. This reflects the efficacy of the care we provide. Recent outcomes at Monte Nido East Bay include:
- 77% of clients with Anorexia Nervosa – restricting demonstrated clinically significant weight gain and reported decreased urge to restrict.
- 100% of clients with Bulimia Nervosa reported improvement in or complete cessation of compensatory behaviors
- 88% of all clients improved in eating disorder symptoms on the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDEQ) global score, 87% of clients diagnosed with PTSD at admission improved in symptoms trauma, and 91% of clients improved on depression symptoms.
- 35% of clients received CPT. Of these, 87% demonstrated significant improvement in their trauma symptoms (as measured by PCL-5 scores) that could be considered remittance of symptoms.
- 100% of clients with Binge Eating Disorder improved to the same extent as clients with other diagnoses on measures of eating disorder symptom severity, quality of life and depression.

Financial Considerations
At Monte Nido East Bay, our goal is to help make treatment accessible and we are committed to working with families to access care. Each of our programs are in-network with different providers. We have also been able to coordinate single case agreements with providers if we are not in network with your insurance company. Please see our Financial Considerations page for more information.
