Monte Nido opened in 1996 as one of the few facilities in the nation which treated eating disorders. The professional reputation of Carolyn Costin and the unique environment she created immediately made admission to Monte Nido highly sought after and soon there was a 3-6 month wait list.
Carolyn's commitment to personal treatment and quality of care, retained Monte Nido as a small, unique but difficult place to get into. She was not willing to compromise client care in a small homelike environment in order to expand to make it easier for more clients to gain admission.
By 2006, Monte Nido had a highly trained and qualified staff and found the right partners, all of which permitted the opening of a new facility in Oregon and then in 2008 another sister facility a few miles away from the existing Monte Nido in the foothills of Malibu, Ca.
Each facility preserves the private, small, home like environment necessary for Carolyn's commitment to individualized care and an environment she believes necessary for deeper healing to take place.
We are very proud of each location and grateful to be able to provide quicker access to Monte Nido's proven methods of care for a greater number of clients
